Vaping is the act of inhaling the aerosol, or ‘vape’ from an e-cigarette or similar vaping device. While the output of the device may look like smoke, it is actually the vapor created by the combustion of an oil or liquid. These vapes can contain chemicals such as nicotine, formaldehyde, aerosols, toxic flavoring chemicals and other carcinogens.
They are the most popular product among youth, so much so that youth vaping is considered an epidemic by the CDC.
In March 2020, The Canadian Tobacco and Nicotine Survey did a study which shows that 1/3 of teens aged 15-19 have vaped.
In 2018, Professor Davis Hammond of the University of Waterloo found that not only vaping increased but also cigarette smoking among 16- to 19-year-olds increased by 45%.
